Аудиовизуальная инсталляция

The work elements reflects the four elements with which humanity has built a relationship for centuries. In attempts to harness or protect themselves from them, people invented various technologies. It may be assumed that this centuries-long process has brought us to the threshold of the AI revolution. Astakhov considers it premature to speak of "technological singularity" in the age of artificial intelligence, until we recognise this continuous cycle of technological development that we ourselves initiated.

Through graphic symbols of the ancient definition of the four elements, the artist constructs a volumetric visual code that acquires three-dimensional space and colossal height. "elements" invites us to find those primordial feelings experienced by people thousands of years ago when encountering elemental forces and attempting to tame them.

Schedule

Every day:

Daytime program 12:00 — 20:00. Audio mode: a meditative audio track interspersed with narrator inserts from Soviet popular science films narrating the power and benefits of natural forces, their conquest and simultaneously the complete helplessness of humans before the elements.

Main audiovisual program 20:00 — 23:00. An original musical composition dedicated to the four primal foundations of the world — the elements. Associated with destructive energy, but also with the foundations of life and harmony.

About the artist

Денис Астахов — Россия

Denis Astakhov is an artist, creative director, director, and producer. Author of hundreds of shows worldwide: from a mapping at the UN Headquarters in New York to David Guetta performing at the foot of mountains in Saudi Arabia, from the grand centenary celebration of the Turkish Republic in Istanbul to the world premiere of BMW in Shanghai.

In his artistic practice, Denis turns 180 degrees: fewer tools, less literalism, less form. Reflecting on the human journey and inspired by the kinetic art movement, he creates impossible architectural installations about the role of technology in the constant transformation of the individual and humanity.
