For several years now, the Mayak (which translates to "lighthouse") has been one of the key locations of INTERVALS. This year, the building's facade will once again transform into a venue for projection mappings — with works by SKGPLUS (China), mammasONica (Italy), and re4ee.
Inside, works from the shortlist of the Kafedra × 2×2 open call winners will be on display. And once again, we look forward to welcoming you to the Mayak for an extensive educational program!
It's hard to imagine, but just a few years ago, the Mayak Academy lay in ruins. After the closure of the Mayak garment factory, which had been located there since the 1960s, the building was abandoned. In 2019, the Intervals Festival once again illuminated the area, presenting mappings on the facade and installations inside. Following its restoration, the Sakharov Mayak Academy has been reborn as an educational and cultural platform, seamlessly reintegrating into the city's vibrant artistic landscape.
